Raw materials of finish foil paper

Finish foil paper is a widely used material in furniture industries. It provides an appealing finish and enhances the overall aesthetics of the end product. In this essay, we will discuss the raw materials of our finish foil paper: base paper, ink and lacquer.

Firstly, let's focus on the base paper. This is the foundation of our finish foil paper, as it provides the surface on which the design and patterns are printed. Base paper is mainly made of wood pulp, Titanium oxide, and Coloring agent with weight range from 30-80gsm. It can be classified into two types based on its strength: non-impregnated foil and pre-impregnated foil. The non-impregnated foil, weighing between 30-65gsm, tends to have lesser strength compared to the pre-impregnated foil. This is because the pre-impregnated foil is impregnated with resin in its production and typically weighs between 50-120gsm. As the base paper of furniture décor paper, it requires some technical attributes like sur-strength, opacity and printability.

Next, let's discuss the ink used in the printing process. We use high-quality and eco-friendly oil-based ink that is specifically formulated for our finish foil paper. The ink is carefully selected to ensure excellent color reproduction. It’s also designed to be resistant to fading, ensuring that our finish foil paper maintains its vibrant appearance over time. Ink can be a very picky material, as the effects of various ink brands of the same color can vary differently when exposed to different lighting conditions.

Finally, we come to the lacquer. Normally, we use polyurethane resin (PU) as the lacquer, which is applied to the printed base paper to enhance its durability and protect the design, as well as provide different glossy level from high-gloss to super-matt. Besides, with the combination of different type of PU resin and cylinders, it can achieve various optical and tactile surface effects. Which helps to reinforce the authenticity of the patterns like wood grain, making them appear more realistic. Moreover, the lacquer provides important qualities like wear resistance, scratch resistance, stain resistance, boiling water resistance, tape resistance, MEK resistance and color fastness to light.

In conclusion, the finish foil paper raw materials, including base paper, ink, and lacquer, is a meticulous process that ensures the high quality and durability of our final product. By carefully selecting and formulating these materials, we are able to create finish foil paper to meet different needs.
